Domain Name Login

I'm designing webs for a client who's hosting his own
sites. I've been uploading my FP webs with no FP extension
problems via CuteFTP but would really like to use FP for
convenience. But - when I try to login I'm prompted for a
Domain Name in addition to username and PW - which I don't
have. My client's explanation is below (he seems
knowledgable). Do I have any recourse or am I doomed to
using FTP?

Client Explanation: For a variety of reasons, I do NOT
have Active Directory loaded on the server. Since it is a
standalone box, it is not logged onto a domain, it is
logged on as a workstation. I had a variety of problems
when I tried to set up Active Directory, and ultimately
pulled it and reconfigured without it.

Try entering the server's computername as the domain name.

This is the Windows computername that shows up under My
Computer, Properties, Network Identification, and not the
Web site's DNS name.
