I have a Netopia wireless dsl connected to my Dell 5012 switch running
XP2003 server. My question is if I connect a users to the domain via a lan
cable after they make connection to the server can they then come in via the
wireless port on the through the domain?

These laptops will be only accessing domain inside the office. Will they
not just use the local cach off the laptop to login then the wireless will
bring them into the domain just like another port?

Yes, if your wireless network is set up to allow access to the wired
network. What happens when you try?

Note that it's possible that your login scripts, etc., won't run - if the
wireless connection isn't enabled/made/open when the user logs in, they'll
log in with cached credentials. They'll still be able to access domain
resources, but you really want to make sure this isn't an issue. This often
depends on the wireless config software- if you're using third party network
management software on the computers, you may want to switch to the windows
XP SP2 wireless management. Or, vice versa, if you have problems the other
way.

I suggest you also tweak your group policy to disable the Fast Logon feature
of XP - as it can cause problems.

From
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Windo...f515-4b80-b794-fe09b5c21bad1033.mspx?mfr=true :

"Any version of Windows XP Professional provides a fast logon optimization
feature. By default, computers with these operating systems do not wait for
the network to start when they boot up. After logon, policy is processed in
the background once the network is available. This means that at logon and
startup, the computer will continue to use the earlier policy settings.
Therefore, for settings that can only be applied at boot or logon (such as
software installation and folder redirection) more than one logon can be
required by the user after the initial change is made to the GPO. This
policy is controlled by the setting in Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\System\Logon\Always wait for the network at computer startup and
logon. This feature is not available on versions of Windows 2000 or Windows
2003 Server."

I have not finished setting up the network yet. Trying to get all of the
information up front before I go back and finish installing.
