Domain Logon Slow

D

dave Admin

I have 100 WIN2K and serveral XP SP2 machines. Only 10 WIN2K machines are
in a AD domain, server is WIN2000, SP3, the rest are in a workgroup. I
added my XP machine to the domain but when I log on to the domain it takes 4
or 5 minutes to log on, when I logon locally, it is almost instantneous.
What might cause this??

I have the same problem. All 25 of our computers are XP based and all have
the same problem. We are using a Dual Xeon 3.0Ghz Supermicro RAID 5 server.
All network functions are fine except authentication can take several
minutes. Once connected it seems to be fine. I have ruled out every
possible hardware problem. It has to be something in the O/S. No one else
seems to have encountered this issue.

We also have this problem - and only with XP computers. It has occurred with
both SP1 and SP2. Searching for info on it suggests that it is a DNS issue
but I can't find a problem on our network.
