domain laptops take long time logging in on other networks

We have an interesting situation, for events we have temporary networks set
up that are not part of the domain. Often off site in other cities without
tech support.

When our WinXP users, with laptops that are normally connected to our active
directory get to these events, they plug their network cables in, boot up,
grab a dhcp address and sit and wait. And wait. The machines are obvioulsy
looking to the network for the domain, and eventually time out. The time
out however is way to long. How do I edit it? Is there a way to maybe
login to workstation only? These users do not have local accounts on the
machines either...

Thanks.

Tip 2240 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com, and hardware profiles
if necessary, resolve that problem.
