Domain changed - locked out

Locksley

Hi,
I need some help with some self-induded trouble. I was
trying to connect my work laptop to my home PC (I was
doing this using my home network so the laptop was not
connected to it's normal network).
As part of that effort I changed the domain of my
laptop to be the same as the home network(I was a bit
desperate at the tome and I had tried everything else).
It said it would only be effective after a restart and so
I restarted only to find that when I did CTRL-ALT-DEL I
lost any ability to choose the domain to enter my
password agains. I assume it is trying my password
against the new domain but I did not get any prompt to
create one before I changed the domain.
To me it seems I have locked myself out forever! Is
there any way to choose the domain that the PC logs into?
I must be missing something since it cannot be that easy
to lock myself out!

/thanks.

Hi,

Once you remove computer from domain, you can only use local computer
accounts ("computer doesn't trust domain any more"). There are few accounts
that are created when you install Windows. One of them is Administrator and
another would be Guest account. If you know local administrator password,
you can logon (enter Administrator for username and its password in password
window). If you don't know the password, you will have to take computer to
your domain administrator who should know the local administrator password
and will be able to add computer back to domain.

Note that you don't have to remove computer from domain to participate in
Workgroup network. You can access shares and printer by e.g. \\server\share
or \\192.168.0.1\share where 192.168.0.1 is IP of your server. Same can be
applied to printers.
