domain and workgroup problem!

Richard Angel

Hi,
Yesterday while trying to be able to share files between
my work laptop and my home computer i managed to lock
myself out of my work laptop! I cannot log on using the
normal password (i have admin rights for the laptop).

The steps that I took to create this nightmare were to:
- change from a workgroup (my work one) to a domain (i
called it HOME). Now when i go to log on i get the
following error:

"The system could not log you on. Make sure your Username
and domain are correct, then type your password again.
Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct
case."

I have tried my username and password a number of times
but have had no luck. I also don't have any options to be
able to choose my domain.

Please can someone help me!! I really need to be able to
get back into my laptop :-(

If you need any more information from me then email me at
the above address and I will call you or answer by email

Thank you very much

Richard

Without knowing the local admin pw you can't even log in. Even if you could,
you can't use your domain profile on there anymore. You need to take your
laptop back to work and ask the domain admin to rejoin the computer to the
domain.

You didn't need to change anything on your laptop to access resources on
your workgroup, btw - you could access them by providing the correct 'host
computer' credentials

net use x: \\computername\sharename /user:computername\username <enter>

for example - provided you could ping the computer by name.
