A registry cleaner, already in XP, that if used in "safe mode", it will clean up the registry, but never delete a needed file or feature?
If not in XP, is there a good free download, that ahs been found to be extra safe?
Registry first aid, I dont totally trust. And the free version only removes about 10 items per pass. So, you wear out your computer, repeating silly 10 count removals, until you get the registry cleaned. On first run, they found over 200 corrections needed to be made (how many really were needed, and would it cause crashes to remove all of them?), where 200 corrections would require 20 full fast hard runs of the computer and drive, to get them all removed, at only 10 removed per pass.
So, I deleted their program, after the first run. Very poor marketing decision on their part. Plus, I dont trust that they only find the safe items to remove.
If anyone has found a truly free version, that works on XP, (or is already located within XP Home) and is near 99.999% safe, would be interested to know the software title.
And also, is a registry cleanner, even needed? Does it improve the system performance, and or reliability, "IF" only the correct files needed to be removed, are removed?
Thanks in advance, for reply's.
