Registry cleaner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
A registry cleaner is a program for Microsoft Windows designed to
remove redundant or unwanted items from the Windows registry. The
reasoning is that the registry is a very complex set of settings
for the programs on a Windows computer, and some poorly written
programs, computer viruses or spyware can cause it to become
'cluttered', and inefficient, thereby impairing the computers
performance.

The cleaner program attempts to remove unneeded or unwanted items
from the registry.

If someone knows so little about registry cleaners they need to look up
basic information, they should not use such tools.
Additionally, nothing should be deleted/modified simply because the tool
says to.
If the user does not fully understand exactly what is being done and all
possible consequences, avoid the tools.
Little if anything is gained by using registry cleaners.

The correct definition of registry cleaner is "something that causes more
problems that it cures".
