free registry cleaner

Would microsoft reg clean 4.1 work on windows xp home or
would I need another free registry cleaner?
I wanted to remove all traces of old software that was
removed from my computer-thanks
 
I use it regularly and it gives no problems. Whether it is as effective as other reg cleaners, is another question.
 
RegClean 4.1 is not compatible with Windows XP and is not supported by
Microsoft.

Windows XP does not need a registry cleaner.
