Does this issue sound like bad drivers, or a faulty card?

I'm still having problems with gamma in 3d games. If I play an older game
without it's own gamma control (i.e relies on the ati drivers for it's gamma
settings), then I play a newer game with a gamma control, then go back and
play my older game again, it's very dark, no gamma is applied.

If I reboot between games, or reset the gamma in the control panel, it works
ok.

Ati have exhausted lots of options with me, to the point they are saying the
card may be faulty, however it works perfectly in every other way.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what I may try, or if they have this
same issue etc. I'd really appreciate it, my card is a sapphire radeon 9800
pro 128mb.

thanks in advance

OK, 3d...why would you think that the AGL wouldn't effect that? it
loads at start up,and newer/and older versions tend to interfere with
video on some systems..if its loading/and running in the background,
its effecting all your software to some degree.

I've tried with and without the adobe gamma loader present, with and without
the ati driver hotfix also.
I wasn't sure whether it'd affect the 3d gamma since the ati drivers have
the settings for 3d and 2d gamma on separate sliders.

I had same problem. Catalyst 4.5 drivers for XP fixed
it ( so far ). I'm a little suspicious of MOHAA video
settings. I was seeing it worst there. I've been mostly
playing Far Cry, and I have not touched MOHAA
in a while. I just returned to that last night ... if it changes
things, I'll post on it.
