F frodo Jan 4, 2006 #4 synchtoy requires .net 1.1 ..net 2.0 does _NOT_ replace 1.1, it coexists side-by-side w/ it. if you removed 1.1 then that's why synchtoy won't work.

B Bobby Jan 4, 2006 #5 Thanks. But, boy, since when does v2.0 not replace v1.1? Only in the Microsoft universe. I will download and install .Net 1.1 since SyncToy is excellent (the Microsoft universe also writes exceedingly good software ;-)

B Bobby Jan 4, 2006 #7 I did a clean install of XP (SP2). When I carried out a Windows update both .Net 2.0 and .Net 1.1 were listed as updates. So I naturally downloaded and installed 2.0. 2.0 is bigger than 1.1 right?

D Dave Jan 5, 2006 #8 I don't remember their size. If you run Windows Update, does it still show v1.1 available? If so, I'd go ahead and install it too.
