Does Spam Filter Need Exchange?

However, someone just told me that the Outlook 2003 spam filter only works if you're using Outlook in conjunction with an Exchange email server. Our email is through our webhosting company (Verio) and therefore is POP3 type email.

Will the spam filter work with POP3 email? If so, how well does it work

It works with POP3 as well. With the latest updates installed it does a good
job here.
