Does Outlook 2003 run off Groupwise 7 or for that matter 6.5

I have Groupwise as my mail program, I want to move to Outlook 2003, there's a few reasons, it works better with the likes of ACT! and I could just use BCM if neccessary, anyway I've inherited a network with Novell 4.9 on the Server and Groupwise 6.55 on the clients as the mail software. Can I use Outlook 2003 with Groupwise 6.5(5), the technical description is that it behaves funny, works on some machines not on others, can see/send mail on some machines some it just crashes (all identical new machines). Also would Groupwise 7 solve my problem?
