Does not recognize keyboard when booting from a CD

Hi;

I have a new Dell Dimension that has USB ports only for the keyboard.
The keyboard works fine for going into the BIOS setup and "hitting a
key" to boot from the CD.

But once it gets to the points where the first Windows XP (Version
2002) screen is where I have to hit Enter to continue - the keyboard
is dead.

Any ideas what is wrong and what I should do?

thanks - dave

"Talking to a tech at Dell, I was told there are only a couple of USB
ports that work upon boot. The GX520 has 6-USB ports on the back. A
column of four ports and two ports next to them. You have to connect
the keyboard into the bottom USB port of the column of four and the
mouse in the USB port to the right of it."
