Does not read my cd

I down loaded xmass address list to a disk last xmass
season. Now I can't retrieve it to Word 2000. It says
something about WPS file and my address list won't come
up when I insert the disk.
 
It is a Works file, Word will open it, File, Open, scroll the pull down to where the
various Works applications are.
