Does MovieMaker really need that driver?

We have a Dell computer with WinXP SP2 and with a Firewire card, and a JVC
DV recorder.

When we plug the Firewire cable in to connect these two, the Windows New
Hardware wizard becomes activated. It says that it has found an AVC Tuner,
but then can't find a driver.

If I cancel out of the New Hardware wizard, I end up with an unknown device
in the Device Manager.

Nevertheless, I can then run Windows MovieMaker and control the JVC recorder
and import video.

Do I really need a driver? And, if not, how do I let the Windows New
Hardware wizard know that?

Thanks,
Jim

Is your firewire port on the avc tuner card? It doesn't seem to from the
searching I've done.
Is the pc a media centre pc? Shop bought or home built?
Is the firewire built into the motherboard or a seperate pci card?
Is the firewire card a firewire or joint firewire usb card?
In device manager do you have any yellow! by any hardware, namely the avc
tuner card? or the firewire?
Firewire should say
OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
or something similar.

Windows supplies the firewire driver for your use, so no drivers need to be
added for that.
