Does Error Reporting work

new to XP and having multiple problems. Whenever I get out of a program that
is not responding it asks if I want to submit an error report. When I do it
just runs "Preparing Error Report" indeffinetly. I have high speed cable
modem so that is not the problem.

Just curious does error reporting work for anyone?
 
Error reporting sends certain information about the error to Microsoft, to help them make improvements to Windows.
