Well

I like to know with FP 2003 publishing, does anyone work
with two local copies, well one would be where the client
edits them and then publish changes to one on a local
server then to the live web site. Would this created
problems with front page extensions if published from one
to another to another ?
Is anyone out there doing this? Just a safe way of
mainting large websites when something goes wrong u have
a backup of it

Thanks

Hi Well,

This would not cause problems with the extensions but I would not recommend it because of the logistics in synchronizing the pages.

Consider using subwebs to scale down the large web site and then use the lite weight version control intrinsic to FP 3/2

what if I published to a local server and then from my
client to the live web site two different locatins from
one client ?

As long as you coordinate the updates it should work, not how I would do it but....

Where I work (at my day job) we use three servers; we develop locally on our
PC on IIS, then publish to a staging server. Once we've made sure that
everything works on the staging server, we then publish from there to the
live server ('www'). Works like a charm.
