Does anyone use only freeware for everything under Windows?

Many people use freeware and a combination of shareware and commercial
software under Windows. But is there anyone who uses nothing but
freeware to do serious work - e.g. running a business? (Note: this is
about Windows and not Linux)

1. Too many freewares are only free for personal (not business) use.
2. The best and most reliable antivirus (and other security) apps
aren't free.

For business I use the best tool I can find for the job, whether it's
a ladder to put up holiday decorations or a piece of software. I'd no
more expect that all the best software is free than I'd expect to walk
into a store and get a ladder for free that's better than the one I
paid $200 for.

If there's freeware that does the job better than $ware I'll use it,
but I haven't found that to be true in very many cases.

Ditto on Art's post about freeware not free for business use. However,
our Windows partition (we dula boot Win XP and Ubuntu Linux) only has
free software on it. We have not had the need to buy software in 10
years (except the OS).

Sorry, I do not think you will find any way to *legally* run a business
on freeware.
