Hello from the south of the state! :)

I'm using eMule with no problems at all. I think it's a lot better than the
others you list. You might check with the doc's for Kaaza and Morpheus to
see what ports they need open and manually open them. Or disable the Windows
Firewall and see what happens.

BTW: File sharing programs are great for getting legal stuff, too. A lot of
demos are available, as well as older versions of things that you may need.

I know that LimeWire is not compatible with Vista x64 definitely.

Utorrent works fine here, although I did have to open a port in my router.

You guys are not fooling anyone. I know you're just using this thread to
collect names and IPs to turn in to the RIAA, MPAA and others. : /

I still think it would be a hoot if MS offered their own P2P
program\Interface.

Turn them in to the RIAA and MPAA? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

RIAA and MPAA can rot in hell. The reason sales are down = quality is down.
I won't pay $10 for one good song on a CD. Period. Movies: $30 to take the
wife and 2 kids. Add another $15 for a large popcorn, 2 drinks and some red
licorice for the kids. That's $45. When it was $5. a ticket for Friday night
I went a couple times a week.

Piracy is one thing. Sure, it takes some sales. But, not to the scale they
claim. I will buy CD's every once in a while, to support the artist. But,
they have to be damn good. I would pay $15 for a CD if I knew the money
would go to the artist, rather than 75% of it going to the RIAA.

Dammit. Got off topic. :) Nothing pisses me off more than those corporate
greedy bastards called the RIAA and MPAA. I could name some explicitives,
but I'll spare the virgin ears of some.

there are several reasons why you may have a problem.
visa limits the number of connections the program can have open at a time. causing most p2p programs to have problems.

2 your isp may have detected the usage and blocked the ports.

I know that my winmx will not run in secondary mode because of the connections problem it has to be run as primary connection.

thank you mikey... i have called and talked to my isp.. they say they are not
choosing wht i can do as long as its not something that hurts others.. or is
against thier policy.. and sharing music is not something they feel is
against thier policy... but i had not thought of that.. i can load it right
up and use it on xp.. no problem.. its only vista because they are totally
against p2p sharing... and hey rock... great post .. knock em dead dood
lol.. again someone who has nothing to offer but a negative comment... one
of the reasons so many people find posting questions in help groups a waste
of time is because there are so many people who just offer negative feed back
about your post.. not the questions your raise.. and believe me.. if i find
out the answers to any of the problems i post... this will be the first place
i will share the answer... and the last place i will just sit and try to diss
others for asking....

give winmx a try then if that is your intent to run a p2p.

Hi I just recently bought a laptop from Dell that is running Windows Vista
(of course!) When I tried to download Limewire, it took forever and a window
popped up, and it said to go the limewire site. Follow that link, and it will
download it. However, although it's up and running and downloading, I am
having a slight glitch with an incomplete folder. No matter what I do it is
there, in my folder where store downloaded files from Limewire. I have even
tried to fix the the days to keep incomplete files field to 0 but it is still
there. As for Kaaza I didn't like that program it had wayyyy too much spyware
for my taste. ;) I may just check out Morpheus.
I hope this trick works. It frustrated me also and it isn't a stupid
question, many people use peer to peer file sharing networks. Good luck!!! :)

I've had issues with all those even on XP. The apps themselves install too
much spyware. I suggest eMule. It’s free and you don't have to worry about
spyware.

However, there are some issues but nothing that will keep you down. Just
follow this page and all will be well. There was a default in XP which
Vista tightened up and it's tripping up these types of apps (# of open
connections).

I got the latest version of Limewire a couple weeks ago and it
installed fine and is working flawlessly under Vista Ultimate.

I tried for 2 weeks to get FileZoom which is basically Limewire to work.
Tried all the firewall settings, router settings and every other setting i
could find.
Finally tracked it down to McAffe.

Here is the fix.
1.) Control panel
2.) Uninstall program
3.) select McAfee
4.) Uninstall Privacy Service & Spam Killer.

This worked as soon as I re-Booted.
I now have a Turbo Charged connection

I hope this helps.

PS. To all those Wankers out there who like to ridicule and preach to others.
In case you are unaware, this is what this discussion group is all about.
somebodyinspokane had a genuine problem, I have a possible fix.
I pass on the information I have without any judgement or malice.
Something the world should do more often.
Cheers "OSWALD"
