Does AMD Processers run hotter than Intel or others??

I am a fan of AMD since I have been PCing for two years. People have told me
that INTEL has a problem history an AMD is more reliable. A friend told me he
would not use AMD because it runs hotter than others. Would someone set me
straight please.JJ

answer depends. Prior to Athlon 64, I would not consider AMD
- ran hotter
- performance and compatibility

When AMD first brought out the Athlon and Duron range, there was a lot of
publicity about the fact that they run hotter than Intel. That is no longer
the case with Intel chips guzzling more power than an equivalent AMD chip.
The more power consumed, the more heat produced.

AMD systems consume less power and therefore probably produce less heat.

Hi, I had a AMD CPU that ran for a long time at 60c, never missed a beat,
all you read about these processors being problematic because they run
hotter is pure bunkum. They were always faster than the equivalent Intel and
I never came across any game or office software that wouldn't run with
them...
