Scenario: Company PC. Windows XP Prof gives logon screen.
And thats it! After logging on, the desktop wallpaper
loads, and after that the Virus Scan. Nothing more. No
taskbar or icons...NOTHING! It is on a HP Notebook, and
this is the 3rd time this has happened in this year
alone. I do not want to reload the flipping thing with
Win XP again, 'cause that is (again) going to take up the
rest of the day as well as tomorrow (loads of software
and network settings to load). You can get into Task
Manager and see the running services. The bootlog shows
that not all the drivers are loading properly (already
tried to reload drivers - get a kernel error). Recovery
Console isn't going to work for anything, and I can't get
into System Restore! Please - somebody...ANYBODY!!! Pls
help - D

Can you get into safe mode and try a roll back on any new driver you've
installed

Nope. I get into safe mode, I login and then I get a
blank screen. Again, all I can do is get into Task
Manager. Screen is All Black, with Safe mode in
corners...thats it. Any ideas?

In task manager, go File>New Task>Run and type: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
