Hello All:
Right now in my documents and settings folder - I have the following

Administrator
Administrator.HP7566.000
All Users
Default User
Help Assistant
LocalService
LocalService.NT Authority
Network Service
NetworkService.NT Authority
Owner
Owner.YOUR_ZE8CXVR8TT.000

how do i combine the duplicate folders. I'm the only user on this PC I hate having to find my files in

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.YOUR.ZE8CXVR8TT.000\My Documents\My Music

Im afraid to just combine and rename - any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance

Yes, you should not combine and rename. Windows XP is a multi-user
operating system and you should just leave those extra accounts alone.
Rather, just make yourself a new account from the User Accounts applet
in Control Panel. Name it something that you like - your name or
whatever. Then copy any data from the account you've been using. Here's
the method to copy user accounts (with thanks and credit to Ramesh):

1) Create a new account
2) Logon to that account to create and initialize the profile
3) Logon to an admin account that isn't the account being copied to or
from
4) Open the System control panel
5) Click the Advanced tab
6) Click Settings under User Profiles
7) Select a profile to copy from [OEM profile]
8) Click Copy To
9) Type or browse to the profile to copy to (C:\Documents and Setting
\user)

Now log off and log back on to your personalized account.

Hello Malke:
Thanks for the information. I logged off my user. Then My logon screen
came up - and there is only ONE user on there and it is already named Jack.
I dont have an Adminstrator tab, under Jack is says computer administrator,
so I am already the administrator and the only user. So basically what your
saying is I'm stuck with administrator.HP7566.000 and
Owner.YOUR_ZE8CXVRT8TT.000

Its just odd that there isnt any way to go back to just plain Owner and
Administrator.

Thanks

Jack

No, that's not what I'm saying. You have a plain Administrator account,
but if you have Home Edition, it is hidden once a new account is made.
The Administrator account is a fail-safe account that shouldn't be used
on a regular basis. XP is a multi-user operating system, unlike Win9x
and ME. If you want to use the Jack account, then use that one and
don't worry about the others. Consider them administrative and forget
about it.
