Where can I find documentation for the parts of the window that I get
when I open WindowsXP-Pro or Windows7-Home?

Please elaborate.

Thanks for looking into my question.

1. WinXP-Pro/SP3, e.g., window displays a caption at the top, a status
bar at the bottom.
The latter is divided into
1a. tabs? for various windows, e.g, 3 Windows Explorers, 2 Microsoft
Words, etc.
1b. Unoccupied areas where one can right-click to get a menu that
enables showing the desktop
1c. the rightmost group of icons (called what?) for various
activations
1d. the day and time-of-day

2. Windows7, which I got on a recently purchased laptop, where it took
me hours to find out how to find the equivalent of WinXP Start button

Best Wishes,
Richard

In each case the answer is much the same: Type one of the following phrases
into a Google search box (including the surrounding double quotes), then
take your pick:

"Windows XP tutorial"
"Windows 7 tutorial"

The Start button in Windows 7 is in exactly the same position as in Windows
XP - it only looks different. Pressing and releasing the Windows key on your
keyboard has the same effect as clicking the Start button.
