Where is the Windows 7 newsgroup?

Searching through the list of available newsgroups, I failed to find one
name windows7. As I suppose that there are such newsgroups, I simply need
to know how to find them.

Oh! I just realized that I am writing this on my WinXP computer, and Win7
does not allow Outlook Express, which is how I get to this newsgroup.

What should I be informed on Win7 newsgroups?

If you want Win 7 advice, use Win 7 forums, `cos that`s where it`s at
now.
MS aren`t supporting 7 newsgroups.
Google for `Win 7 forums`.

Microsoft Answers Windows 7 Forums:

You can try this NNTP group, but be prepared to put up with a lot of
trolls.

Win7 Via NNTP: alt.windows7.org

If you need a server to access it:

AIOE.Org
http://news.aioe.general

There is one _non_-Microsoft-sanctioned newsgroup for Windows 7 called:

alt.windows7.general

I know of at least two free news servers that carry it:

http://news.aioe.org/

Direct link:

news://nntp.aioe.org/alt.windows7.general

and

http://www.eternal-september.org/

For a quick peak, there is one clunky Web interface to it so far:

http://www.w7forums.com/alt-windows7-general-f28.html

You may use any newsreader. I am aware that Windows 7 does not contain a
program like Outlook Express out of the box. Well, it sort of does if
you know the hack:

There are a number of free programs you can try:

Windows Live Mail
Thunderbird
XNews
Forte Free Agent v1.93

If you are looking for Microsoft-sanctioned Web forums for Windows 7
(yes, sadly Microsoft is abandoning Usenet), you may find them here:

Who is "they"? I am not an employee of MS and dislike the forums myself.

Microsoft hasn't created any in the microsoft.public.* hierarchy. They
do have web forums.

In Usenet, there is a alt.windows7.general newsgroups that is carried
on many servers (including eternal-september.org, a free service). You
might also investigate the comp.os.ms-windows hierarchies.

Use Thunderbird (www.mozilla.org/thunderbird), or Agent
(www.forteinc.com/agent) or any other newsreader of your choice.

". . . if you know the hack:" I tried the link, the one ending in "f6d",
and got an error code 404. I sure do like the functionality of OE, and
would like to try the hack. Can you clarify the link/error 404 problem?

I am still in the process of looking for a newsgroup or forum appropriate
for me.
I found the "alt.windows7.org" to have far too much uncalled-for abusive
spewing. Far too many of the posters do not moderate themselves.

Weird. The link worked when I made the post!

Here is the text cache from Google:

Here's another page that addresses this "hack":

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/06/05/download-windows-mail-from-vista-for-use-in-windows-7/

But I wouldn't waste my time doing it (unless you are that much in love
with the old Windows Mail). Better to use one program from the list I
gave you originally:

Windows Live Mail
Thunderbird
XNews
Forte Free Agent v1.93
