Document properties

I am not able to change the Author and Title properties of a document. What
could be the reason and how can i overcome it?
 
Both of those docprops exist - if a document is new or saved it has a name
Document1 or ABC.doc abc.dotx etc.
Author is the active log in author - so you exist because you are logged in.
Title is Name of Document.
Author is person logged in.

Hope this helps a little..
 
I am not able to change the properties of a document, it gives me error
sysmbol but no description. how do i fix it?
