document map

hi community

how can I prevent the Document Map task pane from being display whenever I
click the New Blank Document button from the Standard Toolbar.

The Document Map always displayed out whenever I request a new blank
documnet. I tried saving a new blank document as Normal.dot but it is of no
use. Went into the Tools > Options......but cannot find any button to turn it
off.

can anybody kindly assist me in this??????

Open the normal.dot template (not by clicking on it, that just gives
you a new document), close the Document Map, type a character in the
template and delete it, and then close & save the template. That
should do it.
