Document Map wierdness

It could be me but,...
I've checked all the Help files and sites but can't get an answer.

The Doc Map view contains entries that are not Heading Styles (1,2,etc). I
read that it should only contain those.

I also find various formatting capabilties for Word 2003 but those don't
work in 2007.

Is this feature an orphan or is there more for me to learn--but where?

Hi Jim,

Most of us don't like how Document Map changes the outline levels, either.

I don't quite understand what you mean with that?

Thanks, Klaus. the link explains a lot. just ignore the comment about
Office 03.
I was referring to the ability to specify which heading levels appear in Doc
Map. One can apparently do that by right-clicking after the last Doc Map
entry. right click doesn't work if one clicks in the Doc Map text itself.
