I can open and start a new document without getting a
message that says" This command is not available because
the document is locked for edit" Nothing on the toolbar
is active. I tried going to the View menu and selecting
outline to unlock but it's not active. I was copying
files from one floppy to another. Please help I have a
final project today!!!!

Hi, Veronica,

For the current problem, see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/LockedFiles.htm.

To help prevent the problem in the future, NEVER use Word's dialogs to open,
save, or move files on floppy disks. It's a recipe for disaster. ALWAYS use
Explorer to copy the files between the floppy and your hard drive, and only
use Word to work on the hard drive.
