What makes my FP 2003 think ALL *.doc and *.ppt files have
been changed since the last time I published? I've
marked "publish changed files only" but even those
UNCHANGED *.doc and *.ppt files publish EVERY time! Makes
my publishing time take much longer than it should.

Are you publishing by FTP? In that case, time zone
differences can cause files to be published unnecessarily.
For example you, on the West coast, publish the 8:00 AM
vresion of a file to an FTP server on the East coast. The
East Coast server timestamps the file at 11:00 AM EST (or
maybe even 3:00 PM UTC). The next time you publish, FP
notices the timestamp mismatch and publishes again.

Some workarounds are:
o Publish using the FrontPage Server Extensions.
o Mark your Word and PowerPoint files Do Not Publish,
and then publish them manually by right-clicking and
choosing Publish Selected Files.
o Set your computer's clock to match that of your FTP
server (yes, ugly).
