do you want to save

Word asks me if I want to save changes anytime I open a document and do
nothing to it. I might scroll through it, making no changes whatsoever. It
also asks if I want to save when I open a new document and immediately try
to close it (doing this for testing purposes.) I've been to
Tools>Options>Save tab, but didn't see anything there that would control
this.

I want Word to ask me this only if I've made a change to the document. I'm
running Office XP on Windows XP Pro.

Thanks in advance....Jan

Does it have any kind of automatic update field in it such
as current date, either in the main document or the
header/footer? If so, it is asking if you want to keep
that update, which occurs everytime you open it.

I don't see anything like that. This is a new computer and OEM version of
Office. There are actually 2 new computers...both running Office and one has
this problem and the other does not. Any other thoughts?

Hi
No help for you, just to say that I have the same problem, and I don't have
any date to update or whatsoever.
I am glad not to be the only one with "weird problem".
