Hi all

I keep periodically checking the Event Viewer, and the system messages
within this. I keep getting a this type of warning on most days of PC
activity; I have just done a Clean Install and my PC is working beautifully,
without hinderance or interuptions - so why this dramatic Hard Disk Failure
message????? Just curious that's all folks.

Your hard disk is about to fail. This has nothing to do your clean install
of Windows XP, since it's a hardware issue.

"Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive."

Yes, but how long is 'about to fail?'

I mean we are all going to grow up one day and die, it's a fact, and yes
maybe one day your hard disk in your PC will fail and die. I can't relate
to it yet though, because I've been getting that same message every day, for
quite some time. And I'm not going through any hardware or software faults
during my PC activities. So should I really replace my hard disk, when at
the moment nothing seems so catastrophically wrong?

BTW - I'm a good geeky boy, I always back up my PC data ;)

Download the disk checking utility from your disk drive's manufacturer.
Maybe that can tell you how bad your disk is.

Funnily enough it happens around the same time every night, around 6pm-8pm.
Probably upon booting up. Is maxtor still in business??
