DO NOT DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP Service Pack 2 !

I too had great trepidation to download and install SP-2. So I delayed for
a long time. However since then, I have installed it on 3 PCs. Two were
mine and one my daughter's.

Prior to doing it I was careful to check my PCs for spyware using both
Adaware and Spybot, ran a virus scan and updated installed software like
Nero 6.6, defragged, etc. Then - with great trepidation - I installed SP-2.

I was amazed how easily it installed. No glitches or anything. I have Zone
Alarm's firewall installed on all my PCs and that caused no problems. SP-2
even installed itself leaving ZA intact and its own firewall shut off. After
sighing with relief, I installed SP-2 on my 2 other PCs. Same thing: no
problems.

Now, I am no great fan of Microsoft. I've used OS/2, Linux and al flavors
of Windows and I have to say this was the most trouble free "install" I
remember for anything. All I can say is that at least for me, it went very
smoothly, maybe because I prepared my PCs before installing. Your mileage
may vary.

Supposedly Symantec will have a dedicated Spyware product out
within the month. You can bet that all the major players will have
Spyware prevention within a short time.

Symantec? Which spyware company are they buying out?

The next new product that Symantec develops will be their first.
Everything they have was acquired by buying up existing companies with
products that they want to market.

Ya That F'N*&^%$%^& Crap service pack2 iz a piece of crap!! Not only did it
not work...when i rebooted my pc , all i had waz a 4 meg display
system!!!When i reinstalled my display drivers..service pack 2 made sure i
had to format my whole hrd drive!!!THanks alot Mr Gates!! a_hole!!gET YOUR
SHIT RIGHT SO THAT ITS COMPATIBALE WITH ALL PC'S THAT ACCOMPANY WINDOWS XP!

You might try upgrading your motherboard's bios.

Sucks to be you then. SP2 works great on my machine! Don't tell us what

Why would you install something without doing the pre-check for it?

Why would you install something without making sure that your BIOS and
drivers supported it?

Sounds like you are one of the blinded minions of set that just does
things that require planning without doing the planning and then choose
to blame others for your own failings.
