Do laptops autoclick or something?

Whenever I use anyone's laptop it seems as if the system is occasionally
automatically clicking to open folders or drag folders or start programs.
How do I make it stop?

I've removed the check from "Open submenus when I pause on them with my
mouse" in the Start Menu Properties. But that doesn't really help.

It seems to occur on every one of the the 5 or 6 laptops that I provide
support to.

I've never had this problems with the hundreds of desktop PCs I've worked
with. It seems to only occur with laptops.

Could I somehow be using the touchpads incorrectly?

Thanx!

If you tap on a touch pad it is the same thing as a left click with the
mouse. If you tap once and then hold down on the touchpad it will drag like
a scroll bar or an icon, just like left clicking and holding on a mouse. It
is common with all touch pads. Also some touch pads have auto scroll
features built in then you rub your finger down the right side of the touch
pad it will scroll down on the screen and so forth. Bottom Line is just be
careful, or better yet get a USB mouse to plug into them and it will make
things simpler for users who are not used to touch pads. Good Luck.

You can always turn this feature off in the control panel!

I've applied this to all of the computers that I look after at work, it
makes the lifetime of the touch pad longer, because it halfs the amount of
battering it gets!

But I must admit, I aggree with Kemco, get yourself a cheap USB mouse! Works
with pretty much all versions of windows, right back to windows 98 se without
even needing and drivers. (98 or more downlevel normally requires some!)

I respectfully submit that you are either lying about your
experience level or severely exaggerating same. Spend a couple
minutes r e a d i n g and ye shall understand.
Your question is much too basic for a truly experienced
person.
