I have a small business and one of my computers is
running XP home. I am looking at installing a server
based setup to have remote access using either server
2003 or 2000. My question is, do I need to upgrade the
XP hoe to professional? and can that even be done?
Thanks.

It can be done.
It doesn't need to be done, but may help in a business environment with
networking, security, and remote desktop.

My experience has been that upgrading "hoes" can be an expensive proposition.

XP "Home" cannot join a domain, XP Pro can. See this MS Site for details.

Home to Pro is an easy normally straightforward upgrade. You should always
backup files you can't afford to lose just in case.
