Hi there,

I'm going to upgrade my system soon into the folowing spec's:

Gigabyte Mainboard,
AMD Athlon 64, 3200
2x512mb, pc3200 ( kingston value-ram )
2x maxtor Plus8 40 gig 7200rpm ATA
Plexwriter cd burner
NEC 2500a DVD burner
4x 80mm casefan, with light
2x 30cm, cold cathode blue
1x cold cathode UV
Geforce ti 4200 ( might upgrade in time to 9800 pro )

At the moment i have a Super Flower 320 watt PSU, bought 1.5yrs ago and
works perfectly with my XP1800+, the rest same specs, only 2x256mb pc133
Do you think i need an upgrade?
Many people tel me to go to at least 400 to 420 watt...

How do you think about this?

Yes.

It doesn't matter what people feel because power needs aren't based on
feelings but can be measured. 350W should actually be enough to run
an Athlon 64 system with a Radeon 9800 Pro, but in reality no such
supply will because power ratings are exaggerated or the +12V power
capacity is insufficient. So I would simply get a high-quality power
supply compatible with the motherboard and rated for 450-550W and made
by Fortron-Source (whichever model has the highest +12V amp rating)
because they're only about $75 from Newegg.com will eliminate the need
for further upgrades. But do not buy just any 480-550W supply because
many are no better than good 350W supplies, at best.

Cold cathode lights are as ugly and useless as tattoos and contribute
nothing but heat, and all properly made PC cases are metal anywa, for
both RF shielding and fire protection. You also don't need 4 case
fans; 1-2 are fine, and I'd rather use disk drive coolers (any good
drive cooler brings in outside air and blows it over the electronics,
not just the top of the drive) or mount the hard drives near the front
bottom and have a front case fan cool them.
