I have never installed an operating system before, so I'm not sure if I need
uninstall one system to load another. If I load one system without
uninstalling the other will it make my computer slower than it already is,
because it' pretty damn slow now?!

An "upgrade" to xp works ok,however the best way & microsofts recommends
installing xp cd,boot to xp cd,select install xp,delete the partition
(2000),create
one, then xp formats & installs auto....

The differences between 2000 and XP are in any case minor; system restore is
perhaps the main advantage of XP. I'm writing this on W2000, and for what
little difference it would make I can't be bothered upgrading.

If your computer is slow now don't expect Windows XP to make it any
faster! Was your computer always slow or has it gradually gotten slower?
