DNS settings in RIS

Carlos Medina

I did not find a RIS NG, so I thought I would post here. I
have noticed that when I create an image and enter
specific DNS suffixes in the TCP/IP advanced settings,
they do carry over when I ris down the image. During the
RIPrep I verify that the DNS suffixes are there, but when
I RIS down the image to another PC, they are not there.
Does DHCP overwrite them? Our DHCP server doesn't have any
DNS suffixes listed. We only use scope options for the
default gateway (router), and global options to specify
wins and dns server and node type. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Carlos Medina

Haven't seen this error before using RIS, but most of my clients prefer
sysprepped Ghosted images that always work.

You can set DHCP Option 015 to the domain name to better help. There's also
a GPO setting to set the Primary DNS Suffix too, in the Computer Config.
