DNS Resolution for domain

I recently installed my network domain with active
directory. I named my domain (domainname.com) as the same
domain as our internet website domain. My windows 2000
domain controller is also my dhcp, dns server. It seems
that AD, DHCP, and DNS are functioning fine. All clients
can browse the internet, EXCEPT our own domain which is
the same as the domain in our office. Does any one know
how to fix this.

What kind of errors do your users get?
Do you host your own website, or do you have some outside
company host/maintain your web site?

In DHCP, do you have your ISP's DNS address as the primary
address?

If your local domain name is the same as your web domain,
IE may resolve the address to DOMAINNAME.COM to the local
server, not the Public IP address of your web site.

Microsoft recommends that you name your domain name to
something like DOMAINNAME.LOCAL Unfortunately you'd have
to run DCPROMO twice to make that change in Win2000.

You need to add static entries in the domain.com zone for the Internet
names with their public IPs
For example. If you have a web site called www.domain.com with a public IP
address, you need to add a host record for www in domain.com with the
public IP.

Create an A record for you domain on your local/internal
DNS server.

www.yourdomain.com ---> Ip address of yourwebsite.

This is a normal behavior and only way to go...so, you
need static A record in you Internal W2K DNS for your
website for internal users.
