Diferent domains dns problems

Hello,

i have a problem with the dns in our network, i have a domain with a domain
controller with windows 2003 server and active directory with a database
server with windows 2003 server and sql server, this server is running iis
and two network interfaces on it, and a windows 2000 server that before it
was the domain controller with active directory and iis service, now this
server it's not running the active directory both it has 3 stations connected
to it and the wan interface is disabled, both domains are using the same ip
structure 10. 34.1.x , the problems that i have is that i have a shared
folder in the DB server that it's not accessible for some users.

if i go to the lan properties in the tcp/ip selection i got a message that
the netwrok is trying to use two diferent gateways.

the pc's in the network are very slow because they are using profiles in the
2003 domain. they take like 20 minutes to start.

there is no virus in the network who can be creating the problem.

i'm trying to install isa server with a dns and dhcp services in the isa
computer.
whow it's possible to link the 3 dns in order to have a better conection in
between the existing domains in order to prepare the network for isa server.

With any multihomed machine, there can only be one default gateway. You will
need to choose a NIC to have a gate and remove the gate from the others. In
a multihomed machine assuming it is being used for internet NAT or other
routing functions, the default gateway would be the 'external' NIC, meaning
towards the outside world. Now the best bet, which I and numerous other
engineers will suggest, is to do away with multiple NICs other than for
teaming.

Multihoming introduces a complexity, such as DNS and WINS, issues, as well
as duplicate NetBIOS names. Many of this stuff can be cleaned up, but it
means configuration settings altering default server functionality. But
normally we try to recommend not to use this scenario.

Is there anyway you can have only one of the NICs in use? If not, and the
server is not a router or performing NAT, you can use the internal NIC as
the default gateway, and disalbe NetBIOS on teh outer NIC, as well as
uncheck the box "register this connection in DNS". Otherwise with multiple
names, I can see why some clients are having problems connecting or even
finding it.

I will install isa server infront of the newtwork servers and select the isa
as default dns, but i need to troubleshoot my network first because i have
too many performance problems, i think is about the two domains that im
running using the same id (10.34.1.x) and the domain controller is running
dns like the other server who was domain controller before, the DB server is
running the iis like the same server who was domain controller before. if it
possible to take out the dns and the iis from our old domain controller and
leave only the new servers running this services???

How can i know wish server is the parent DNS and IIS in order to
troubleshoot the network?

Parent DNS? If the DCs are running DNS and the zone is AD Integrated, there
is no "Parent" DNS in the sense of zone transfers, if that is waht you mean?
I am not sure what you mean. You will need to elaborate.

If you are referring to what DNS servers is being used by your machines, you
can look at their IP properties or look at the DHCP scope. If you want to
swithc DNS servers from one DC to another DC, then make sure DNS is
installed on the new DC, make sure the zone is AD integrated and then just
switch the IP address in IP properties to use the new machine.

Otherwise I am having a little difficulty understanding your terminology and
what you are trying to accomplish.
