DNS problem I think

G

Guest

My problem is that when I am connected for awhile my internet
connection goes dead. I am not dosconnected but the little screens in the
bottom right corner of the monitor go dark and I cannot use the internet. I
have tried to "reset the Internet Prtocol TCP/IP according to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299357 I also
tried to
solve any winsock corruption by following the instructions in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811259 I used ipconfig, netdiag, and the
ping
commands to help diagnose the problem and these are the results------as you
can
see the IP address responds but DNS does not.

My problem is that when I am connected for awhile my internet
connection goes dead. I am not dosconnected but the little screens in the
bottom right corner of the monitor go dark and I cannot use the internet. I
have tried to "reset the Internet Prtocol TCP/IP according to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299357 I also
tried to
solve any winsock corruption by following the instructions in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811259

If you are having DNS problems, or suspect them, you need to talk to
you your ISP. It is NOT related to XP as XP doesn't control DNS.
Very few home users run DNS servers that they maintain.

The only reason I have a DNS server is that I have a small test Domain
at home using Win2003 Server. The Domain requires Active Directory,
which requires DNS be setup. My XP boxes DNS entries in Networking
point to that DNS address (my Server), but IT has forwarders set to my
ISP DNS servers. They actually handle the traffic, not my server.
