DNS not working after AD install

I just added AD to a windows 2000 sp4 server that has been running in
'workgroup' mode. The dcpromo process went fine it setup the domain name,
DHCP and DNS. Now when I go to join the PC to the domain it fails beacuse of
an DNS error. I get an error that states the DNS name does not exist -
0x0000232b RCODE_NAME_ERROR. It goes on to say the DNS SRV record is not
registered in DNS or 1 or more zones don;t include a delegation to child
zone. I can ping the server by IP and by name, the SRV records appear to
exist and when I do an nslookup with q=srv it seems to come back. I'm not
sure what to try next. I have setup many domain contollers before and never
had this problem. Has anyone had this problem or have any advice for me??

Thanks

Sound like your DNS set up is wrong.

Point the DNS server to itself for DNS in the properties of TCP/IP, point
all AD clients to the DNS server set up for the AD domain. Fro internet
access set up your AD DNS server to forward requests and list your ISP's DNS
servers as the forwarders or use root hints.

i had the same prob.Check ur tcp ip settings and c whether in the dns ip settings the mentioned ip address is pointing to the dns server or if the same dc is the dns server ,then the dns server ip would be of the dc.
