DNS entries with a ~

when scanning our network for Ip addresses and Hostnames
are few systems return with a hostname similar to this

is~server1.domain.com

Why is the tilde there and how do we dispose of it

What is the server name supposed to be? Have you checked it out on the
server?

on the DNS Server everything looks fine. name of server is
supposed to be server1 not is~server1. I have found 3
other file servers witht the same problem, all have an
is~ before the name
