The application DVDFab kept asking to turn on DMA when it starts.
Yesterday I accidentally I clicked OK. It rebooted my machine, but
now I'm getting application crashes. IE and Media Player are among
the applications that are crashing. How can I undo what DVDFab did? I
looked at the DVD hardware settings--there are many DMA choices. I
could not see any DMA settings for memory (are there any?) in Device
Manager. Plus there are options in the BIOS. Is DMA (Direct Memory
Access) properties of memory, processor, or hardware device? Or
perhaps all? I understand what DMA is, but not so clear about how
Windows XP's settings handles this or where the settings can be
changed. TIA

DMA is for CD/DVD Roms and hard drives. You should only look in these section
in Device Management.

DMA is the hardware/software (both are involved) to allow data to be
transfered directly from the disk drive to memory without going through
the CPU. If this isn't working right for you, then something (hardware
or software) is wrong with your system. Whether turned on and used or
not, the hardware is present in all PCs.
