Hi

Are you sure that you have the correct spelling of the file names?

Some of this sort of malware is really hard to get rid of. First, be
sure you are updating Spybot and Ad-aware before running them, and try
running them in Safe Mode. Second, download CWShredder and HijackThis
from www.spywareinfo.com. Read the instructions for HijackThis very
carefully. You also should visit the forums on Spywareinfo because they
are full of extremely knowledgeable people.

HI redgjie,

To eliminate aoctres.dll and aoctres.cpy.dll,
you have to have Windows XP/2000 installation
CD.

Boot from CD and go to recovery mode. (Type "R"
at the prompt)

Then select the installation (type 1 or 2 etc)

You will have to enter admin password.

Then goto
windows\system32
and delete both DLLs manually.

and restart !

good luck.

There is a another quicker way of getting rid of these AOCTRES files.
I know you must have tried Spybot and Ad-aware6 and none of them were
able to remove these tyrant files off your computer. The darn things
just hijack your browser.
Anyhow, here is the procedure:
1) Locate the files in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32
2) Right Click and choose properties
3) Choose the security tab and Uncheck "Allow inheritable...."
4) Then Deny ALL permissions for all users for all functions
5) Do the above with both files, AOCTRES.DLL and AOCTRES.CPY.DLL
This will prevent the computer from loading these files at boot up
6) Reboot
7) Now you can go and delete both these stupid files and you are done.

Let me know here if it worked for you. Worked for me after spending 3
days of trying different software to remove adware etc.
