Run HijackThis and post the log to one of the specialty forums, not this
one.

Hi,

The other user posted you something to use HiJackThis 1.99. Here's a list of
download mirrors from the original developers site:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis

Me personally use this app many times a week & Spybot to help people remove
rogue entries.

Instructions for use:

Download & unzip to a new folder. Place that folder in the root of C:\ for
example & never run from the Desktop. This is what the developer advises.
Now, run the program doing a system scan creating a log file. Its the
contents of that log file the previous user said don't post in this
newsgroup. However, if you use Outlook Express to view this newsgroup (like
I do) then you can attach the log file to your reply like you would a normal
attachment to an e-mail & post it. I still receive the log to examine & the
other user is happy because you haven't pasted 100 lines of text in.

For info on how to configure Outlook Express, see the base of this post.

Spybot Search & Destroy is another awesome program to use & its totally
free. The developers site is here:

http://www.spybot.info

Direct Download (Mirror):

http://fileforum.betanews.com/sendfile/1043809773/1/spybotsd14.exe

(You can only download Spybot from mirrors)

-----------------------------------------------

Configuring Outlook Express as a newsreader:
-----------------------------------------------

To configure Outlook Express to become a newsreader, do this:

Open Outlook Exporess
From the TOOLS menu choose ACCOUNTS
Click the ADD button (top-right) & Click NEWS
Spoof a name (I chose Newbie Coder)
Spoof an e-mail (example: (e-mail address removed))
In the news server type: 'msnews.microsoft.com' (without quotes)
Click NEXT
Click FINISH

It will ask to download a list of newsgroups
Type in 'microsoft.public.windowsxp.general' (without quotes) & subscribe to
it.
It will now download the posts, find this one, highlight it & click the
REPLY GROUP button
Drag your log file to that window & after writing a message click SEND.

Remember, you can flag this post so it will go red when there is a reply to
it

I hope this helps,

Spybot is a good program but it is also a one man operation which means that
it will find only a certain amount of crap on your system (no I'm NOT
knocking Spybot but their is only so much one person can do).

AVG Anti-spyware
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5

Download, install, update and scan your system with the program above (a free
fully funtional 30 day trial) let it remove all that it finds then post your
hijack this log file as Rock suggested.

Do you have a firewall?
if yes, is it something other than windows firewall?
if yes, consider getting a better firewall, ie zonealarm, or Kerio.
have you disabled windows instant messenger?
