Dll function call crashed

When trying to install programs on my PC I get the following error -
Error No.: 0x80040707 Description: "Dll function call crashed: ISRT.
_WaitOnDialog" and the install terminates. This effects a number of
programs, all of which I have successfully installed in the past. In
recent days I have had a number of problems with windows which involved
reinstalling drivers and programs and this problem seems to have
originated at that time. I cannot tie it down to a particular time when
this started or a particular program causing it. If anyone has any idea
of how to solve this I'd be grateful.

My OS is XP Pro, and this seems to occur with programs using Install
Shield.

Thanks
Mossie

If you do a restore to a point before the problem started do you still get
the error? Of course you will need to re-install any software loaded after
the restore point.

I tried to do a restore but I got a message that the restore had failed
to complete.

You might have a corrupt restore point. Do any other restore points work?
You should disable anti virus software while doing this.

On your original problem, have you read this:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167
About half way down it has instructions for XP users which involves
modifying the registry if you are comfortable with that.
