Distribution List Does Not Save

MS Office 2003, trying to use distribution list for the 1st time for business
contacts in outlook. When on an open email message screen I click into it. I
always get a message when going to business contacts list which says "Can't
contact LDAP Directory server(81)". Also, What is "Active Directory"? It is
always empty. I would appreciate your input.

Sounds like you don't use an LDAP address book. Remove the service from your
profile through Tools-> Account Settings
