Distortion picture from AVI files

I loaded some files in AVI format and cannot see them. I tried to do this by
Media Player 10 and VLC media player 0.8.5. Both programs give the image
similar the TV screen with spoiled development. The sound generates on VLC
normally, on Media Player with halts and repetitions. Although the cinema
from DVD are generating normally (through InterVideo DVD6).

What should I correct?

My system is WinXP+SP2.

Download, and run Gspot http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
Drag and drop your vid into the gspot window, it will tell you what
codec you need - google for it.

Most likely, there is a codec missing. Download the sample .avi file
from this site and see if that file works.
