distortion ond speed issues after reinstall

I recently di an inplace upgrade with win2k, and after I did this I experienced a Major speed redution and all multi media that is playing ie music, start up or what ever is severly destorted. I already uninstalled and reinstalled both the hardwear and the drivers, still with no luck I reconfig. every thing and no improvment. I have an excessive amount of spaace on my hard drives, so I know I am not running slow due to a full drive. I have ran chkdsk and nortan, with no results, as well as defrag. Any sugestions? thank you

Distortion of music might tend to suggest a problem with sound card/App.
If you upgraded have you checked that you have Win2K drivers for yr
hardware?
